The Senior Pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Dr. Paul Enenche, has again attracted national attention following a prophetic declaration that preceded the derailment of the Abuja-Kaduna passenger train on Tuesday.
During the church’s Daily Commanding the Day Midnight Prayer, which is usually broadcast live on online platforms and other channels, held on August 22, 2025, at the Glory Dome in Abuja, Dr. Enenche declared that every satanic plan of massive bloodshed through planes, trains, vehicles or any other means of mass tragedy was cancelled.
He stated that the major assignment of the prophetic is to go ahead of the devil in order to avert tragedy, while quoting the biblical admonition that where there is no vision the people perish.
The Senior Pastor further explained that the intention of the devil was to wipe out relatives, colleagues, friends and entire communities through orchestrated disasters.
Three days later, on Tuesday, a passenger train carrying more than six hundred travellers from Abuja to Kaduna derailed between Kubwa and Asham.
The Nigerian Railway Corporation confirmed that no life was lost in the accident, although a number of passengers sustained injuries. The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau has since commenced inquiries into the cause of the incident.
This declaration was not the first of such prophetic warnings. On November 14, 2024, during the same Daily Commanding the Day Midnight Prayer, Dr. Enenche specifically declared against a possible plane crash, mentioning bird invasion as a likely cause.
Barely hours later, a Lagos-bound Air Peace flight was aborted at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja after birds struck the aircraft engines. All passengers were safely deboarded without any casualty, a development that was interpreted by many as a confirmation of the prophetic warning.
The coincidence of these events with prophetic declarations has drawn public reactions.
Followers of the Dunamis International Gospel Centre insist that the derailment without deaths is evidence of divine intervention through prophecy. Others maintain that the events are coincidental and highlight instead the importance of safety infrastructure and accountability in the transport sector.
While Nigeria escaped without fatalities, similar train disasters in other countries have produced heavy casualties.
In Germany, three people were killed and dozens injured in July 2025 when a regional train derailed following a landslide. In Pakistan, at least thirty lives were lost and more than one hundred sustained injuries in the Hazara Express derailment of August 2023. In North Korea, one of the worst train disasters in recent history occurred in December 2023 in Dancheon, where about four hundred people were killed. These incidents, cited by Dr. Enenche in his post-prayer reflection, underscore the potential scale of bloodshed that could have followed the Abuja–Kaduna derailment had lives been lost.
