
Two siblings – Blessing Emmanuel, 26; and Samuel Emmanuel, 18; were on Thursday brought before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing cell phones valued at N1.2 million.
The defendants, of unknown addresses, are facing a three-count charge bordering on breaking and stealing.
The prosecutor, Insp Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on Sept.12 at about 11:00a.m in Ado-Ekiti.
Oriyomi said that the defendants unlawfully entered a church premises and stole one iPhone worth N550,000, belonging to one Ayewa Esther
He alleged that the defendants also stole iPhone valued at N650,000, property of one Jolayemi Temitope.
According to him, the offences contravene Sections 421, 302 and 302 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.
The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against them.
Counsel to the defendants, Mr Joseph Oguntuase, urged the court to grant them bail, with a promise that they would not jump bail.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Abayomi Adeosun, granted each of the defendants bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety each in like sum.
He adjourned the case until Oct. 20 for hearing.
