The Executive Chairman of the Nasarawa State Universal Basic Education Board (NSUBEB), Dr. Kassim Muhammad Kassim, has suspended the Head of the Personnel Department of the Akun Development Education Authority, Theresa Amos, over allegations of corruption.

The suspension, which takes immediate effect, was announced by the board Chairman on Monday, who said the action was taken to allow for a thorough investigation into the allegations.

According to him, the two-week suspension is intended to create room for an unhindered probe, adding that the affected official has been directed to hand over her responsibilities to the most senior officer in the department.

Kassim reaffirmed his commitment to sanitising the education system in the state, warning that any individual who undermines transparency and accountability would be held responsible.

He noted that the suspended official is accused of extorting money from retired teachers before processing their retirement benefits, as well as demanding payments from serving teachers prior to the release of their promotion benefits.

The NSUBEB chairman stressed that the board would not tolerate corrupt practices and would continue to take decisive action to restore integrity within the system.
