Exposed: How a Nollywood Actor Was Linked to Alleged Coup Plot Against Tinu
A veteran Nollywood actor and filmmaker, Stanley Kingsley Amadi, popularly known as Stan K Amadi, has been arrested in connection with an alleged plot to illegally remove President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Security sources disclosed that Amadi was arrested in September 2025, although details of his alleged role only became public recently. Investigations reportedly indicated that the actor was recruited by suspected coup plotters to function as a propagandist, a role believed to be critical to preparations for a violent takeover.
Government officials familiar with the investigation alleged that the plot included plans to assassinate top government officials, including President Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas.
On Monday, the Defence Headquarters confirmed that its investigations uncovered a plan aimed at illegally removing the Tinubu administration. The military stated that officers implicated in the plot would face military judicial panels in line with established procedures.
In a statement, the military said investigations had been concluded and forwarded to the appropriate superior authority in accordance with extant regulations.
Stan K Amadi, born on October 6, is a Nigerian actor, director, filmmaker, and producer. He is a former Chairman of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Enugu State Chapter, and a graduate of the University of Port Harcourt.
He attended Union Secondary School, Awkunanow, Enugu.
A respected figure in Nollywood, Amadi has featured in several films, including Origin of Wickedness, Life’s Cross Road, Ofodili, Birthright, and Something Strange.
He has acted alongside top Nollywood actors such as Nkem Owoh, Ngozi Ezeonu, Zulu Adigwe, Ruth Kadiri, and Nuella Njubigbo.
Authorities say further actions will be guided by recommendations arising from the completed investigations.
