A tele-evangelist and founder, Solid Rock Kingdom Church in Akwa Ibom State, Apostle John Okoriko, has dismissed claims that God dwells in some churches, saying the church building can never be the abode of God.

According to him, God can only dwell in a willing human body.

Describing God as “immutable”, the cleric stated that people have failed to rely wholly on God, who even resides inside them, for help and protection, but instead resort to going to churches.

Speaking in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State capital, during the monthly Interactive service for the month of March, on the theme ‘What You Think, You Become’, Okoriko charged Christians to develop what he described as “Christ consciousness”, adding that when they have Christ nothing can harm them.

Speaking on doctrinal conflict among Christians, Okoriko noted that “fighting in churches is caused by inability of Christians to have Christ dwelling in them as the temple of his body”.

“If Christ is formed in us, we won’t have any problem both in the world and in the church. When we have the mind of Christ, we won’t allow religion to form irrelevant images in us.

“It is only in church that Jesus and the father are separated as God is only one. Jesus never separated himself from the father. Jesus is the body while Christ is the spirit. Jesus and the father are one,” he said.

Reading from the book of Gal: 4 :19, Okoriko disclosed that many Christians do not know that Christ can be formed in them to escape danger and hostilities.

Okoriko further noted that the nation of Israel is fighting today because they don’t have the consciousness of Christ in them

“When you are Christ conscious, you don’t fight for anything, rather what you need comes to you effortlessly,” the cleric said.

On insecurity, Okoriko warned Christians to always think and focus on God for protection in the face of security threats and other challenges in life. He urged them to forget about fighting to avenge enemies.

“We are in the age of confusion where no church believes in each other. The consciousness of Christ is missing in religion. Churches help us to form things that have nothing to do with our Christian faith .

“This triggers attacks and fight among religious groups resulting in loss of lives, killings and general insecurity in the world,” he added.
