IMuslims React Over Peter Obi’s Eid Mubarak Message

Reactions have continued to pour in after former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, shared a goodwill message to Muslims celebrating Eid al-Fitr across Nigeria and beyond.

In his message, Obi congratulated Muslim faithful on the successful completion of Ramadan, describing the holy month as a period of faith, sacrifice, discipline, and compassion.

He urged Nigerians to sustain the values of love, humility, generosity, and unity, stressing that such virtues are crucial in addressing the nation’s current challenges.
Obi also encouraged citizens to extend kindness to the less privileged and work collectively towards peace, justice, and national progress.

He concluded with prayers for Allah’s acceptance of عبادات (acts of worship), forgiveness, and blessings of prosperity and security for the country.

Mixed Reactions Trail Obi’s Message

Shortly after the message surfaced online, Nigerians—especially Muslims—took to social media platforms like X (formerly Twitter) and Facebook to share their thoughts.

Some users applauded Obi for his inclusiveness and consistency:
@Aisha_Sadiya (Kano): “Peter Obi always identifies with every group. Leadership is about unity, not division. Eid Mubarak to you too, sir.”

@AbdulRahman_J (Kaduna): “This is the kind of message we need in Nigeria right now—peace, love, and togetherness.”

Others highlighted his perceived sincerity and connection with the masses:
@UsmanTalks (Abuja): “Whether you support him or not, Obi understands how to communicate with the people.”
@ZainabWrites (Ilorin): “Simple, heartfelt, and respectful. That’s leadership.”

However, not all reactions were entirely positive, as a few critics questioned the political undertone:

@RealMusaDanladi (Sokoto): “All these messages are good, but Nigerians need action, not just words.”
@ArewaVoiceNG (Zaria): “Politicians will always show up during celebrations. We are watching.”

Despite the differing opinions, many agreed that the message struck a timely chord, especially as Nigerians navigate economic and security challenges.

A Message of Hope Amid Challenges

Obi’s Eid message comes at a time when many Nigerians are calling for unity and collective responsibility in tackling national issues. His emphasis on compassion and support for the vulnerable resonated with a wide audience.

He ended his message with a warm “Eid Mubarak” and “Eid Sa’id” to Muslims in Nigeria and across the globe.
