The family of Kenneth Ojobo, a resident of Okirighwere community in the Amukpe area of Sapele, Delta State, has called for a thorough investigation into his death and urged the leadership of the Nigeria Police Force under Inspector General of Police Olatunji Disu to ensure justice is served.

In a statement issued on Friday, the family expressed concerns about the handling of the case, alleging intimidation of potential witnesses and raising fears about their safety.

They appealed for greater protection for individuals who may have information relevant to the investigation.

The family also requested that the inspector general of police take a direct interest in the matter to ensure transparency and accountability in the investigative process.

According to the statement, some witnesses have reportedly relocated from Delta State to Abuja due to safety concerns. The family urged authorities to take steps to reassure them and encourage cooperation with investigators.

“Witnesses are scared for their lives. They have been threatened and warned not to speak or return,” the family said.

They further called on security agencies to intensify efforts to identify and apprehend those responsible for the killing, stressing that justice for the deceased remains a priority.

“The killers of Kenneth Ojobo must be brought to book. The Inspector-General must not allow his office to be dragged into disrepute,” the family added.

Meanwhile, internal police correspondence indicates that the Nigeria Police Force had previously acted on a petition related to the incident.

A memo dated November 17, 2025, shows that the Office of the Inspector-General of Police directed the Force Intelligence Department to take necessary steps following a formal complaint submitted through legal representatives.

The directive, issued from the Force Headquarters in Area 11, Garki, Abuja, instructed the appropriate unit to review the allegations and proceed with investigations.

The petition, filed on behalf of a complainant, detailed an incident in August 2025 in which violence reportedly occurred in the community, resulting in injuries and the death of Kenneth Ojobo. It also raised concerns about ongoing threats to residents.

Legal representatives for the complainant urged the police authorities to carry out a comprehensive investigation and ensure that anyone found culpable is held accountable in accordance with the law.

The family and their representatives emphasized the need for due process, urging law enforcement agencies to act swiftly while upholding fairness and the rule of law.

“Therefore, it is our strong belief that only your office can address this issue.

“We therefore implore you in the name of all that is good about the Nigerian Police Force to come and rescue our client and the people of Okirighwere community in Sapele, Delta State. We count on your fullest cooperation in this regard,” the petition stated.
