The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has again assured that justice will be served in the extra judicial killing of a suspect in Delta State by a police officer.

The IGP gave the assurance during a press conference at the Nigerian Police Peace Keeping Hall, Force Headquarters, on Tuesday

He said the Nigeria Police Force acted swiftly and decisively by dismissing the officer responsible and members of his team from service.

According to him, the case file has been forwarded to the Directorate of Public Prosecutions for criminal prosecution.

“This matter will not be swept aside. Accountability will be pursued to its full and logical conclusion,” the IGP vowed.

“I also wish to place on record that the suspect was found in possession of a locally fabricated Beretta pistol and four rounds of live 9mm ammunition. Investigations are ongoing.

“To the Nigerian public, I say this: this incident does not define the Nigeria Police Force. But how we respond to it will. And our response is clear – zero tolerance, full accountability, no exceptions.”

He went on to disclose that during the month of April, 2026 the Nigeria Police Force during several intelligence-led operations, recorded several successes, including the arrest of 28 suspected terrorists, 51 murder/culpable homicide suspects, 62 armed robbery suspects, 85 suspected kidnapping suspects and 54 suspected cultists.

He said that activities of the police led to the rescue of 189 victims of kidnapping.

In the same vein, the IGP said that a total number of 140 assorted firearms were recovered in different operations, while 1,074 calibres of ammunition, and 37 stolen vehicles, were recovered.
