Reigning Miss University of Jos (UNIJOS), Promise Dikko, has narrated the heartbreaking circumstances surrounding the death of her fiancé, a Nigerian Army lieutenant identified simply as Ifeanyi, who was reportedly killed by bandits in Kaduna State months before their planned wedding.
According to Dikko, she last spoke with her fiancé on Monday before suddenly losing contact with him. Initially believing it was a network problem, she continued trying to reach him until she received the devastating news the following day.
Speaking with the media about the incident, the beauty queen disclosed that the young army officer was reportedly killed during an operation after bandits intercepted him and his colleagues in the Rigasa area of Kaduna State. She stressed that he was not kidnapped but died while carrying out his duties as a military officer.
The tragedy occurred just months before the couple’s planned wedding, which had been fixed for December 27, 2026. Dikko revealed that substantial preparations and bookings had already been made for the ceremony.
Despite her grief, she described her late fiancé as a patriot who loved his country and sacrificed his life in service to others.
In an emotional tribute shared on social media, Dikko wrote that she had saved one of their photographs to post closer to their wedding date but was instead using it to mourn the man she described as her hero.

The incident has once again drawn attention to Nigeria’s lingering security challenges, particularly the activities of bandits and armed groups across several parts of the country.
