The Director-General of the Industrial Training Fund (ITF), Dr Afiz Ogun, has announced that students of the ITF Staff School will begin receiving hands-on training at the Fund’s Skill Academy starting from the next academic session in September 2025.
Speaking at the school’s 2025 graduation ceremony, Ogun said the initiative is aimed at shifting education from theory-based learning to practical, skill-based training to better prepare students for future career paths and global competitiveness.
Represented by Mrs Safia Ababakar, Director of Legal and Counsel at ITF, the D-G emphasised the Fund’s commitment to nurturing a skilled generation from early education stages.
“This initiative reflects our commitment to developing a skilled generation from an early age. By integrating skill acquisition into their education, we are building a stronger foundation for national development,” he said.
He added that the Skill Academy would ensure that every child graduating from the school will leave with at least one practical skill to support their livelihood after graduation.
Ogun also congratulated the graduating students for their academic achievements and urged them to uphold good values as ambassadors of the ITF. He praised the teaching staff for their dedication to grooming successful students.
In his remarks, the school’s principal, Mr Richard Baba, lauded the ITF’s leadership for transforming the school into a leading centre of academic excellence. He noted that despite widespread failure in the 2025 JAMB examination nationwide, several students from the school scored over 300, with the lowest score recorded being 195.
A total of 70 students graduated from the ITF Staff Secondary School at the event.
