Former Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic military helicopter crash in Ghana that claimed the lives of several high-profile officials, including the country’s Defence Minister, Edward Boamah, and Environment Minister, Ibrahim Mohammed.
The crash, which occurred in Ghana’s southern Ashanti region on Wednesday, resulted in the deaths of all passengers on board, sending shockwaves across the nation and beyond.
In a condolence message shared on his social media platforms, Jonathan described the incident as a painful tragedy and extended heartfelt sympathies to President John Mahama, the government, and the people of Ghana.
“I extend my deepest condolences to His Excellency, President John Mahama, the Government and people of Ghana, and the bereaved families on the tragic incident,” he said.
Jonathan praised the late ministers and military officers as committed public servants who died in active service to their country, noting that their loss leaves a significant void in the hearts of many.
He added: “I join you in paying tribute to their patriotism and the sacrifices they made for the peace, security, and progress of Ghana. I pray that their legacy continues to inspire future generations of Ghanaian leaders.”
