The National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Senator David Mark, has joined others in mourning the late Emir of Zuru, Maj.-Gen. Muhammadu Sani Sami (rtd.), describing him as a patriot and a man of honour whose death is a great loss to Nigeria.
In a statement issued by his Media Adviser, Paul Mumeh, Mark said the late emir was a gallant soldier and a traditional ruler who lived a life defined by courage, discipline, and sacrifice.
He recalled that Sami, a retired general, served Nigeria with distinction as an officer of the Nigerian Army before ascending the throne of Zuru. During his reign, the emir was credited with promoting peace, unity, and development, which brought stability and progress to the emirate.
Mark further described the late monarch as a bridge-builder and custodian of culture whose wisdom and moderation would be deeply missed by his people and the nation.
“The passing of the Emir is not only a huge loss to the Zuru Emirate and Kebbi State but also to Nigeria,” Mark said.
He extended condolences to the Emir’s family, the Zuru Emirate Council, the Kebbi State Government, and the Nigerian Army, while praying for the repose of the emir’s soul and strength for his loved ones to bear the loss.
