Kwara State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has approved a N10 million financial support for the family of Mr. Saheed Adeshina, a vigilante member killed during a fierce gun battle with bandits in Eleyin community, Isin Local Government Area.
In a statement issued in Ilorin by his Chief Press Secretary, Mallam Rafiu Ajakaye, the Governor commended the people of Isin and Irepodun for their bravery in resisting the armed criminals.
He stressed that their action affirmed the community’s right to live without fear or intimidation.
“In addition to our support for the security agencies, I commend the bravery of the Isin and Irepodun vigilantes who mounted a spirited resistance against the criminals,” AbdulRazaq stated.
He expressed condolences to the family of the slain vigilante, assuring them of government support.
He added: “I also send my heartfelt condolences to the family of Mr. Saheed Adeshina, who succumbed to the injuries in the encounter. May God repose his soul. His family is assured of our prayers and support at this difficult moment.”
Governor AbdulRazaq further pledged to replace the motorcycles lost during the clash, while promising increased logistic support for security agencies and local vigilantes across the state.
The statement added that the Nigerian Army has extended Operation Fansan Yamma to Kwara State to reinforce internal security efforts and strengthen collaboration with local vigilantes in combating criminal elements.
