Kwara Gov’t pledges continued investment in Education

The Kwara State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to investing in teaching, learning, and infrastructure to ensure all children have access to quality education.

According to the Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Dr. Lawal Olorungbebe, the state will continue to prioritize teacher training and provide the necessary resources to improve educational outcomes.

Speaking on the results of the 2025 placement examination, Dr. Olorungbebe highlighted significant progress in both participation and performance. He noted that student participation rose by 3.09%, from 62,031 in 2024 to 63,950 in 2025, a sign of growing confidence in the public education system.

Performance also saw a remarkable improvement, with the overall pass rate climbing to 83.21% in 2025, compared to 73.98% in 2024 and 66.99% in 2019. This marks the strongest result in recent years.

The commissioner provided a breakdown of subject-specific results to include Mathematics: 72.86% pass rate (up from 67.00% in 2024), English: 74.61% pass rate (up from 73.00% in 2024) and General Studies: 85.30% pass rate (up from 78.00% in 2024).

Dr. Olorungbebe credited Governor Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s substantial investment in the education sector for these achievements.

He also commended teachers, school leaders, parents, and students for their collective efforts in sustaining these positive trends.
