The Etsu Nupe and Chairman of the Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of the Emir of Zuru, Retired Maj.-Gen. Muhammadu Sani-Sami.
In a condolence message issued in Bida, Abubakar described the late emir’s death as a great loss to his family, the Zuru Emirate, Kebbi State, and the nation at large. He praised the deceased as a respected traditional ruler who dedicated his reign to peace, unity, and the development of his people.
According to the Etsu Nupe, the late Emir Sami lived a life of discipline, humility, and service, earning the admiration of his subjects and colleagues across Nigeria’s traditional institution. He added that the emir’s reign brought remarkable progress to the Zuru Emirate while his wise counsel promoted peace and unity in Kebbi State and beyond.
“The passing of the Emir of Zuru has created a vacuum that will be very difficult to fill,” Abubakar said, describing him as a patriot and philanthropist whose legacy will endure.
He prayed for Allah to grant the deceased eternal rest and give his family, the Zuru Emirate, and Kebbi State the strength to bear the loss. He also urged the people of the emirate to uphold the values of peace, tolerance, and communal harmony that the late emir championed throughout his reign.
