Governor Otti, Ikpeazu React To Report of Death Sentence Over ₦1 Trillion Theft

Ikpeazu Dismisses Fake Report of Death Sentence Over ₦1 Trillion Theft
Former Governor of Abia State, Okezie Ikpeazu, has dismissed viral claims that he was sentenced to death by hanging for allegedly stealing ₦1 trillion while in office.
The fake report, which alleged that an Abia High Court convicted him after discovering hidden foreign accounts, was widely circulated on social media.
Reacting in an interview with ABN TV, Ikpeazu described the claims as “laughable and mischievous,” insisting they were fabricated to mislead the public.
Former Commissioner for Information, John Okiyi Kalu, blamed political opponents and called on the DSS to trace those behind the cyber smear campaign. He alleged the false report was linked to allies of Governor Alex Otti.
But Otti’s media aide, Ferdinand Ekeoma, denied the accusation, stressing that the governor had no hand in the publication. He cautioned Okiyi Kalu against dragging Otti’s name into the matter for political or financial gain.
Ekeoma added: “It is laughable to imagine that Governor Otti, who played the most decent opposition politics in Abia, would sponsor such rubbish.”
