ITF Dismisses Relocation Rumours, Reaffirms Jos as Permanent Headquarters

Headlineswave.ng reports that the Industrial Training Fund (ITF) has dismissed widespread rumours suggesting plans to move its headquarters out of Jos, Plateau State.

In a statement issued on Friday by Thomas Ngor, Head of Press and Public Relations, the agency described the relocation claims as false, misleading, and unfounded.

The controversy was triggered by a motion raised in the Plateau State House of Assembly by Hon. Theodore Bala Maiyaki, member representing Quaan-Pan South Constituency, who had expressed concerns over alleged moves to shift the ITF headquarters.

While acknowledging Maiyaki’s right to speak for his people, the ITF described the motion as “alarmist” and warned that such unfounded claims could strain the cordial relationship between the Fund and Plateau residents.

According to the Fund, no internal or external processes have been initiated to move the headquarters. Any such decision, it stressed, would require the involvement of its Management, Governing Council, and the supervising Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Investment—none of which have discussed or approved a relocation.

The ITF further emphasized that Jos has remained its operational base since 1976, when the headquarters was officially moved from Lagos, and that the city has since benefited greatly from its presence.

“The ITF remains deeply committed to driving industrial and economic development in Plateau State and across Nigeria, with Jos as the centre of its operations for the foreseeable future,” the statement read. Reaffirming its bond with Plateau State, the Fund assured stakeholders that it will continue to partner with the state government and other stakeholders to strengthen industrial training and national development.

It therefore urged the public to disregard the relocation rumours and trust in its ongoing commitment to Plateau State
