Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has imposed a 24-hour curfew on the communities of Ilobu, Ifon, and Erin-Osun due to escalating communal clashes. The violence, initially between residents of Ilobu and Ifon, has spread to Erin-Osun, prompting the government to take this measure to prevent further escalation and maintain law and order.
The curfew, effective immediately, mandates that all residents remain indoors until peace is restored. Governor Adeleke has directed security agencies—including the military, Nigeria Police Force, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Immigration, NDLEA, and Amotekun—to enforce the curfew and maintain strict surveillance over the affected areas.
In a statement, the governor expressed his dissatisfaction with the resurgence of violence and emphasized that Osun State is known for peace and harmony. He warned that his administration would not tolerate any actions that threaten this peace and assured that perpetrators would face the full wrath of the law.
Residents are urged to comply with the curfew and cooperate with security agencies to ensure the swift restoration of peace in the affected communities.
