Amid grief and rising security concerns, Kwara State Governor and Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, NGF, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, has paid a condolence visit to Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, following recent attacks on communities within the Borgu Emirate.
The terrorist attacks claimed several lives, destroyed property and forced many residents to flee their homes, further worsening security challenges in parts of the state.
During the visit, Abdulrazaq described the attacks as tragic and unfortunate, noting that the violence has not only resulted in loss of lives but also disrupted livelihoods and displaced families.
He conveyed the sympathies of the Government and people of Kwara State, as well as the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, to the Government and people of Niger State.
The NGF chairman assured that collaborative efforts with security agencies and neighbouring states would be strengthened to confront the growing threats across border communities.
In his response, Bago appreciated the visit, describing it as a strong demonstration of solidarity and shared responsibility.
He noted that Kwara and Niger states share borders around the Borgu Emirate and face similar security pressures, underscoring the need for coordinated inter-state action to restore peace and stability.
