Meet Me In Court, Adeyanju Responds To Peter Obi’s Defamation Threat

Political activist, Deji Adeyanju, has dismissed Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi’s legal threat over alleged defamatory publications, declaring he is ready to face him in court.

Obi, through his lawyer, Alex Ejesieme (SAN), had issued a letter of demand accusing Adeyanju of persistently spreading false and malicious statements against him on X (formerly Twitter), Facebook, and other platforms. The letter demanded the immediate deletion of the alleged defamatory posts, public apologies across social media, and publication of apologies in three national dailies.

It further warned that failure to comply within seven days would result in a lawsuit seeking aggravated damages, a restraining injunction, and recovery of legal costs.

In a swift reaction posted on his official Facebook page, Adeyanju dismissed Obi’s demands, insisting he would not retract any of his statements. He vowed to meet the former Anambra State governor in court, signaling readiness for a legal showdown.
