The domestic drama between Nigerian actress Regina Daniels and her billionaire husband, Senator Ned Nwoko, has taken a new twist as the lawmaker publicly accused his wife of drug and alcohol abuse, claiming her alleged violent outbursts were the cause of the ongoing marital crisis.
In a lengthy statement titled “Regina’s Unprovoked Carnage and Rampage in My House and in My Absence,” the Delta North senator detailed a series of shocking allegations, suggesting that Regina’s behavior has worsened due to substance dependency.
According to Ned Nwoko, Regina has refused to continue her rehabilitation program and has now relocated to an environment where she has “unrestricted access to drugs.”
“Regina was not always like this. Her current battle with drugs and alcohol abuse is the root of our problem. She must continue her rehabilitation program, or I fear for her life and safety,” Ned said.
The senator further alleged that Regina assaulted three of his staff members within the last 48 hours and destroyed property, including cars and windows. He stated that none of his other wives had ever accused him of violence, insisting that Regina was the one exhibiting violent tendencies.
“I have other wives, and none will ever accuse me of violence. Regina is the violent one here, slapping and hitting staff and destroying property for no reason,” he claimed.
Ned also disclosed that he had proposed rehabilitation options for her, either in Asokoro, Abuja, or abroad in Jordan, where she would not have access to drugs.
He further alleged that Regina threatened to harm a resident nurse for exposing her alleged drug habits, and named two individuals — “Sammy,” described as her “main supplier,” and another, “Ann,” whom he called a “tiny evil devil” — as those enabling her addiction.
Nigerians React
As expected, the senator’s public outburst drew a wave of reactions from Nigerians on social media, many of whom criticized him for bringing private family issues to the public domain.
Prominent commentator Obiora Otti condemned the senator’s approach, describing his statement as “a failure of wisdom and restraint.”
“Bringing your marital issues to social media has stripped away every layer of dignity that should come with age, experience, and the office you hold,” Otti said.
“You cannot heal someone by shaming them. Leadership begins at home — not in the Senate chamber.”
Another X (Twitter) user, U. C. Emeliem (@UC_Emeliem), also faulted Ned’s statement, writing:
“Regina was not always like this. Her current battle with drugs and alcohol abuse is the root of our problem,” quoting Ned’s words before responding —
“Dear Senator, abuse is not the root of the problem. What was she trying to escape from through drugs and alcohol? The right answers are the root of the problem.”
As of press time, Regina Daniels has not responded publicly to her husband’s accusations. The once enviable celebrity marriage between the actress and the senator has now become one of the most discussed topics on Nigerian social media.
