A new civic force, The Movement (TM), has officially been unveiled, signalling what its leaders describe as a major paradigm shift in citizen engagement, governance advocacy, and people-centered activism.
Unlike conventional political platforms, TM declares itself non-partisan, positioning the movement as a values-driven coalition focused on awakening civic consciousness, protecting the collective interest of the people, and reshaping the social contract between leaders and the governed.
Announcing the movement during the maiden National EXCO Ambassadors meeting on Sunday January 4th, 2026, Sunday Ken Awoji, National Lead Ambassador of TM, said the emergence of The People’s Movement marks a historic turning point where ordinary citizens take ownership of their future beyond party lines, ethnic divisions, or religious affiliations.
“This is not just another organization. It is a call to conscience.
A movement built by the people, for the people, and with the people,” Awoji stated.
A PEOPLE-FIRST AGENDA
TM is anchored on a bold vision to build a united, informed, and empowered people’s movement capable of driving positive change, promoting good governance, and safeguarding the collective future of society.
The movement’s core values underscore its reformist outlook:
– People First – placing citizens’ welfare above all interests
– Integrity and Accountability – demanding transparency and responsibility
– Unity in Diversity – transcending tribe, religion, and ideology
– Discipline and Structure – operating with strategy, order, and purpose
– Courage and Commitment – standing firm without compromise or fear
A SHIFT FROM POLITICS AS USUAL
TM represents a departure from traditional activism and partisan mobilization, introducing a structured, disciplined, and ideology-driven civic movement aimed at long-term societal transformation rather than short-term political gains.
Members of the movement are described as “ambassadors of hope, discipline, and action,” charged with organizing, mobilizing, and growing the movement while remaining focused on the people’s interest.
A MOVEMENT, NOT A MOMENT
With its rallying cry of “without compromise, without fear, and without distraction,” TM is positioning itself as a sustained force in the civic space, seeking to redefine participation, accountability, and collective responsibility.
As Nigeria and other democracies grapple with declining trust in institutions and leadership, The People’s Movement is presenting itself as a fresh alternative – a people-powered platform designed to restore purpose, unity, and hope.
TM – The People’s Movement – has arrived, and its message is clear: the future belongs to the people.
