Islamic scholar Sheik Ahmad Gumi has said that there is no doubt that Christians are victims of insecurity in Nigeria.
Speaking in an interview on Trust TV on Wednesday, the Islamic cleric said Muslims also suffer from the insecurity in Nigeria.
Sheik Gumi also urged the United States government to respect sovereignty of Nigeria.
“No doubt Christians are victims of insecurity, so are Muslims too. US have to respect Nigeria’s sovereignty. Nigeria requires foreign assistance while maintaining its sovereignty.
“During the Nigerian Civil War, Russia provided aid when America supported secessionists.
“It appears ironic that Nigeria’s foreign policy is now influenced externally. We should also look at the our own national interest,” he said.
