A heartbroken mother, Mrs Durojaye Olaoluwa Kanisuru, has cried out for justice following the death of her daughter, Esther Titilola Kanisuru, who reportedly died on 30th July 2025 during an alleged family ritual in the Kanisuru household.

The incident has raised serious concerns over the continuation of dangerous traditional practices within some families.

Relatives told newsmen that it has long been a practice in the Kanisuru family to perform certain rituals on teenage members.

The rituals were described as barbaric, outdated, and life-threatening, noting that several lives have been lost over time due to this tradition.

Mrs Kehinde Olanrewaju, aunt of the deceased, condemned the ritual and said authorities have repeatedly ignored previous reports.

“This primitive practice must be halted by all means. Innocent lives cannot continue to be sacrificed under the guise of culture,” she said.

According to Mrs Olanrewaju, her sister, Mrs Durojaye Olaoluwa Kanisuru, shared her heartbreaking experience of losing her child. She said that multiple complaints had been made to the government and other authorities in the past, but they were dismissed as a family matter.

She called on the public to raise awareness about the practice and ensure that it is investigated and stopped.

The bereaved family has appealed for prayers and support, while urging government agencies to take immediate steps to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
