My Meeting with Goodluck Jonathan Was Fruitful – Peter Obi

Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, has revealed details of his closed-door meeting with former President Goodluck Jonathan in Abuja on Thursday.

Obi disclosed the development in a post on his verified X (formerly Twitter) handle, describing Jonathan as his “elder brother, statesman, and leader.”

According to Obi, their meeting was “fruitful” and centered on pressing national issues.

“Today in Abuja, I met with my very dear elder brother, statesman, and leader, former President Goodluck Jonathan @GEJonathan. We had a fruitful closed-door meeting and discussed the state of our dear nation,” Obi wrote.

The meeting comes amid growing speculation in political circles that both Jonathan and Obi could play strategic roles ahead of the 2027 presidential election, with reports linking them to possible alignments under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

This development has further fueled conversations about potential political realignments as opposition parties prepare strategies to challenge the ruling party in 2027.
