Plateau Police Arrest 15 Suspected Criminals With Masked Faces Pretending as Commercial Motorcyclist
The Plateau State Police Command has recorded a major breakthrough in its ongoing effort to tackle insecurity across the State, announcing the arrest of 15 suspected criminal elements who allegedly disguised themselves as commercial motorcyclists while carrying out illicit activities.
According to a statement from the Command, the arrest followed credible intelligence reports indicating the influx of criminal-minded individuals who infiltrate the commercial motorcycle sector and operate with face masks to conceal their identities.
Police operatives launched coordinated operations across different locations in the State, successfully picking up suspects who reportedly matched the descriptions of a notorious criminal gang linked to violent activities. The police added that the operation is still underway with more arrests expected.
Suspects in Custody for Interrogation
All 15 suspects are currently being detained for interrogation, and authorities say they will be charged to court once investigations are concluded.
The Plateau State Government had earlier placed a total ban on commercial motorcycle operations as part of measures to restore peace and curb rising criminal activities. However, the Police Command noted that some individuals continue to violate this order, endangering the lives and property of residents.
Police Issue Stern Warning to Criminal Migrants
The Command also issued a strong warning to individuals who relocated to Plateau State with criminal intent, urging them to leave immediately or face the full weight of the law.
“We will not hesitate to apply the full wrath of the law on anyone found engaging in criminal activities in the State,” the police emphasized.
The Plateau Police reaffirmed their commitment to working with the State Government and security stakeholders to maintain peace, safeguard citizens, and rid the State of criminal elements.
