The Nigeria Police Force has dismissed a widely circulated recruitment notice for 2025, describing it as fake.

The Force spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, announced on Sunday that the document, which had invited applications from September 22, was fraudulent.

He posted the notice on X, marking it with a bold red “FAKE” stamp to alert the public and urged Nigerians to disregard it.

The forged statement had falsely advertised vacancies for candidates with SSCE, GCE, NECO, NABTEB, OND, HND, and BSc qualifications.

It also outlined age restrictions of 18–25 for some applicants and under 28 for others, alongside height requirements of 1.7 metres for men and 1.64 metres for women.

The notice further demanded proof of physical and mental fitness and directed applicants to an online recruitment portal, claiming the exercise was free.

Hundeyin clarified that the police have not commenced any recruitment for 2025 and warned the public to be vigilant against scams.

The announcement was allegedly signed in the name of the Force Public Relations Officer on behalf of the Inspector General of Police, but the NPF confirmed it was fabricated.

Similarly, the Police Service Commission (PSC) has distanced itself from the advert. In a statement signed by its spokesman, Mr Ikechukwu Ani, the PSC stressed that no recruitment has begun.

Ani said: “The Commission wishes to disown an online advertorial on the commencement of the exercise, which obviously is fictitious and diversionary.

“The current online advertorial is not from the Commission and does not in any way represent the character or the content of the Commission’s statement announcing commencement of such exercises.”

He added that the Commission has repeatedly appealed to Nigerian youths to exercise patience, assuring that the 2025 recruitment will be conducted in a transparent and credible manner once the process officially begins.

Ani further warned those behind the scam to desist, emphasising that the PSC would not allow the recruitment exercise to be hijacked or tainted by fraudulent activities.
