The operatives of Police Command in Lagos State have detained a 38-year-old security guard for allegedly breaking into an apartment to steal valuables.
The command’s spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed this in a statement on Saturday in Lagos.
He said that detectives of Iju Division apprehended the suspect.
“On Aug. 15, a resident of the Ifako area reported that upon returning home, he discovered his house had been broken into by unknown persons.
“Stolen items included one sumec generator, one fireman generator, one national air conditioner, and three air conditioner compressor engines, all valued at N1.8 million.
“Following investigation, detectives apprehended the suspect in the same neighborhood.
“Further investigations revealed that the suspect conspired with others still at large to commit the crime, ” Hundeyin said
According to the image maker, the stolen items have been recovered, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend his accomplices.
The spokesperson said that the case would be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.
He said that the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Olohundare Jimoh assured residents that the command would leave no stone unturned in bringing criminal elements to justice.
Hundeyin added that Jimoh urged residents to always do proper background checks of employees before engaging them.
