Operatives of the Nasarawa State Police Command have arrested two suspected gun manufacturers and four alleged distributors in Lafia, disrupting what authorities describe as a major arms syndicate.

Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Mohammed Jauro, announced the breakthrough during a press briefing on Tuesday.

The two gun makers, identified as James Philip and Alpha Philip, were arrested on 31 August 2025 in the Faferuwa area of Lafia. Their capture prompted further investigations, which led to the arrest of four men accused of buying and distributing the weapons.

Those arrested were named as Usman Abubakar of Shendam Road, Lafia; Yakubu Danladi of Mararaba Akunza, Lafia; Usman Kasimu, also known as Bobo, of Bukan Sidi, Lafia; and Abdullahi Adamu, also of Bukan Sidi, Lafia.

Police said items recovered from the suspects included 13 long-range single-barrel guns, 10 short guns, one revolver, and three swords. Officers also seized three gun-manufacturing machines and tools allegedly used for production, along with three police uniforms, a face cap, and various criminal charms.

CP Jauro reaffirmed the command’s commitment to clamping down on the circulation of illegal arms, stressing that such efforts are crucial to tackling crime and safeguarding lives across Nasarawa State.
