The Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas (Rtd), has declared that he has successfully fulfilled the mandate given to him by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the six-month emergency rule in the state.

Ibas made the announcement during the submission of the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) report on the recently concluded local government elections at Government House, Port Harcourt.

According to the Sole Administrator, the peaceful conduct of the elections and the subsequent swearing-in of chairmen and councillors across all 23 local government areas confirmed that the presidential directive of March 18, 2025, had been fully implemented.

“My mandate from Mr. President was clear: to stabilise the state, restore its institutions, and return Rivers State to democratic governance. With the successful elections and inauguration of local government councils, that objective has been decisively achieved,” Ibas said.

Ibas commended RSIEC for conducting “one of the most credible electoral processes the state has witnessed in recent years” and assured that the government would review the report thoroughly and issue a white paper on it soon.

He also lauded security agencies, election officials, and his administrative team for their efforts in maintaining peace and order throughout the elections and the transition period.
