Major General Moses Gara, the Commander of the Joint Task Force (JTF) Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), has urged newly promoted officers to embrace their new ranks with greater responsibility, integrity, and discipline.

During a recent decoration ceremony at the 401 Special Forces Brigade Joint Officers’ Mess in Makurdi, Major General Gara congratulated the officers on their well-deserved promotions, stating that their new roles come with higher expectations.

He emphasized that the military, navy, and police all value professionalism and career progression, which are achieved through dedication and hard work.

The ceremony saw the promotion of nine Army officers to the rank of Major, one Naval officer to Lieutenant Commander, and one Police officer to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP).

Major General Gara encouraged the promoted officers to be exemplary leaders and to make integrity their guiding principle.

He stressed the importance of continuous self-improvement, financial prudence, and strong regimentation.

“Your subordinates will look up to you, and your superiors will demand results. You must therefore lead by example and make integrity your watchword,” he said.

He also reminded them that their performance directly impacts the credibility of their respective services.

Speaking on behalf of the newly decorated officers, Major N. Miri-Dashe expressed gratitude to the Chief of Army Staff, other Service Chiefs, and the Inspector General of Police.

He pledged that the officers would justify the confidence placed in them and rededicate themselves to their duties with renewed vigor. He also commended Major General Gara for his inspiring leadership.
