Aisha Buhari Visits Atiku Abubakar — Details Emerge

Former First Lady Aisha Buhari has visited former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar at his residence in Abuja, in a meeting that has attracted attention amid increasing political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Atiku, who is the 2027 presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), disclosed the meeting on his social media platforms on Wednesday, September 16.

He described the visit by Aisha Buhari as “warm and deeply appreciated”, but neither he nor the former First Lady publicly disclosed the specific purpose of the meeting or the issues discussed.

“Today, I was delighted to receive former First Lady, H.E. Aisha Buhari. Her visit was warm and deeply appreciated,” Atiku said.
Atiku speaks on economic hardship

Following the meeting, Atiku focused his public remarks on the economic difficulties confronting Nigerian families.

He said rising costs of food, transportation, education, healthcare and other basic necessities were putting increasing pressure on households.

According to the former Vice-President, Nigerians deserve an economy that rewards hard work, restores opportunities and allows families to live with dignity and hope.

He added that leaders seeking a better Nigeria have a responsibility to put the welfare, dignity and future of citizens first.

Was the meeting political?

The meeting comes at a time of heightened political activity and consultations ahead of the 2027 elections, making the encounter politically noteworthy.

However, there is currently no public evidence that Aisha Buhari endorsed Atiku, joined the ADC or entered into any political agreement with him as a result of the meeting.

Reports also indicate that Aisha was accompanied by one of her daughters and some associates during the visit.

The meeting is not their first recent encounter. Atiku had also hosted Aisha, her daughter Hanan and other members of the Buhari family in Saudi Arabia during the 2026 Umrah pilgrimage.

For now, the specific reason for Aisha Buhari’s latest visit remains undisclosed by both sides.
