The Lagos State Police Command has busted a notorious vehicle theft syndicate, arresting four suspects and recovering a stolen Toyota Hiace bus during a series of coordinated operations across multiple states.
Police disclosed that the breakthrough followed a report lodged on 1 August 2025, after a 31-year-old suspect, Salisu Ibrahim Abdullahi, allegedly stole a grey Toyota Hiace bus. Detectives from the Command’s Tactical Team in Isheri trailed Abdullahi to Port Harcourt, Rivers State, where he was apprehended.
Further investigations led to the arrest of three alleged accomplices in Kano State. They were identified as 45-year-old mechanic Yenusa Salihu, 49-year-old car dealer Baba Jero Idris, and 41-year-old businessman Abdullahi Aliyu. The stolen Toyota Hiace bus was also recovered during the operation, the police confirmed.
The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, commended the officers for their intelligence-led approach. He reaffirmed the Command’s determination to strengthen its operational strategies to combat organised crime and ensure offenders are prosecuted.
“The Command is committed to deploying modern policing strategies to tackle vehicle theft and guarantee that criminals face the full weight of the law,” he said.
The suspects remain in custody and are expected to be charged to court once investigations are concluded.
