A Facebook user, Samuel Bature, has publicly tendered an unreserved apology to the Executive Governor of Plateau State, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang, over a misleading post he made on social media in 2024.
In a statement shared on Monday, Bature expressed deep regret for the unverified and misleading claims he posted on his Facebook account under the name Samuel Samuel II last year.
“I sincerely and unreservedly apologize to His Excellency, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang, the Executive Governor of Plateau State, for the unverified and misleading statements I posted on my Facebook account in 2024,” he said.
Bature acknowledged that his earlier comments were inappropriate and caused unwarranted harm to the Governor’s reputation and office.
“Upon reflection, I acknowledge that those statements were inappropriate and caused unwarranted harm to the reputation of His Excellency and his office. I deeply regret my actions and any distress they may have caused to the Governor, his administration, and the good people of Plateau State,” he added.
He further announced the retraction of all previous statements, stressing that they did not represent the truth.
Following his engagement with the Plateau State Ministry of Justice, Bature noted that the experience had taught him the importance of responsible communication and fact-checking before publishing information online.
“I am committed to exercising greater responsibility in all my future communications, ensuring that any information I share is verified and factual,” he said.
Bature concluded by seeking the forgiveness of Governor Mutfwang and the people of Plateau State, appreciating their understanding and opportunity to make amends.
“I respectfully seek the forgiveness of His Excellency, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang, and the people of Plateau State, and I sincerely thank you for the understanding and opportunity to make amends,” he concluded.
