Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar is recording major victories across several states in the ongoing African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential primary election as more verified results continue to emerge nationwide.
Checks by HEADLINESWAVE.ng on Tuesday morning show that Atiku is leading the race against former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi and businessman Mohammed Hayatu-deen in multiple states where results have already been declared.
In Abia State, Atiku defeated Amaechi after polling 25,153 votes against Amaechi’s 18,339 votes, while Hayatu-deen secured 3,264 votes. The result was announced by the state Returning Officer, Onyebuchi Chukwu.
Verified reports monitored by HEADLINESWAVE.ng also indicate that Atiku swept the presidential primary in Sokoto State with a commanding margin over his rivals.
In Zamfara State, early results circulating from party officials and monitoring groups showed Atiku emerging victorious as one of the first candidates to secure a state win in the exercise.
However, Amaechi appears to be making inroads in parts of the South-East.
Reports monitored by HEADLINESWAVE.ng indicate that the former Minister of Transportation won the ADC presidential primary in Ebonyi State.
The ADC had earlier confirmed that only three aspirants were cleared for the presidential contest — Atiku, Amaechi and Hayatu-deen — ahead of the nationwide exercise.
Party officials said the primaries were conducted across wards nationwide under the supervision of security agencies and electoral monitors.
Meanwhile, political observers say the outcome of the ADC primary could shape coalition talks ahead of the 2027 general elections, especially amid growing opposition realignments across the country.
