Plateau 2027: A leading contender in the 2027 Plateau State governorship race, Kefiano Kefas, has alleged political victimization after workers at a farm site allocated to him at BARCFARMS were reportedly instructed to suspend operations following a directive from the Plateau State Government.
Kefas made the allegation in a statement posted on his official Facebook page, expressing disappointment over what he described as an action that would negatively affect ordinary citizens rather than himself.
According to him, workers at the farm site, which was allocated to him last year, were ordered to stop work following a government directive.
While acknowledging that politics often comes with disagreements and competition, Kefas argued that vindictive actions serve no useful purpose and ultimately hurt the people.
“I understand politics, but vindictiveness serves no one,” he wrote.
The governorship hopeful maintained that he was not the primary victim of the decision, noting that God had blessed him abundantly and that he had not established the farming venture for personal enrichment.
He explained that proceeds from the farm, together with earnings from his other agricultural investments in Shendam and Wase, had largely been used to support Plateau citizens facing various challenges.
According to him, despite committing substantial resources to machinery, farm inputs, and cultivation activities, personal profit was never his primary objective.
Kefas, however, lamented that the suspension of operations would have far-reaching consequences for hundreds of workers from the host community in Bassa Local Government Area who depend on the farm for employment and sustenance.
“What is regrettable is that this action ultimately affects ordinary people. It denies support to intended beneficiaries and threatens the livelihoods of hundreds of workers from the host community in Bassa who depend on the farm for income and sustenance,” he stated.
The politician also questioned the morality of depriving citizens of economic opportunities for political reasons, asking whether such actions align with Christian values and the oath of office sworn by public officials.
“One must ask: Is it consistent with Christian values, or with the solemn oath of public office, to deprive citizens of opportunity and livelihood in pursuit of political interests?” he queried.
As of the time of filing this report, the Plateau State Government had not issued an official response to the allegations.
