How Suspects Planned Kidnap of Adelabu’s Sister and Twin Sons – What We Know
Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force have uncovered disturbing details surrounding the kidnapping of Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke, sister of former Minister of Power, , and her twin sons in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The victims were rescued during a coordinated police operation after being held captive in a hideout within the Ayegun-Olomi axis of Ibadan.
According to information released during the investigation, the suspects allegedly carried out weeks of surveillance before executing the abduction on June 3, 2026.
Suspects Allegedly Monitored Family for Weeks
One of the arrested suspects, identified as Segun Balogun, popularly known as “Alawaye,” reportedly told investigators that the gang initially considered abducting Adelabu’s elderly mother before shifting attention to the children.
Balogun claimed that the gang leader, Adewale Abolarinwa, also known as “Oloro,” had asked questions about the whereabouts of members of the Adelabu family before the operation was planned.
Investigators believe the suspects monitored the family’s movements, studied school routes, and gathered information about security arrangements around the residence before carrying out the attack.
How the Kidnap Was Executed
According to police findings, the gang allegedly intercepted the vehicle conveying the twins and their mother, forcing them into another vehicle before transporting them to a prepared hideout.
Another suspect, Dare Oyedele, popularly called “Solution,” reportedly admitted to assisting with surveillance and logistics connected to the operation.
Police sources disclosed that weapons were recovered during the investigation, while intelligence gathering helped operatives trace the suspects and secure the release of the victims.
Police Rescue Victims, Arrest Suspects
The successful rescue operation was reportedly carried out by officers of the Force Intelligence Department–Intelligence Response Team (FID-IRT) in collaboration with the Oyo State Police Command.
Authorities confirmed that several suspects connected to the crime have been arrested, while investigations continue to determine whether additional accomplices were involved.
Concerns Over Repeat Criminal Activity
The case has also raised public concerns following reports that the alleged gang leader had previously faced criminal charges before his latest arrest.
Security experts say the development highlights the need for stronger intelligence gathering, effective prosecution, and sustained efforts to combat kidnapping and violent crime across Nigeria.
Investigation Continues
Police authorities have assured residents that investigations are ongoing and that anyone found connected to the crime will face the full weight of the law.
The rescue of the victims has been welcomed by residents and security stakeholders, who commended the swift response of law enforcement agencies.
