The Plateau Bloggers and Online Media Association (PLABOMA) has successfully hosted the 2026 World Social Media Day celebration in Jos, bringing together key stakeholders, media professionals, content creators, and Mass Communication students from the University of Jos and Plateau State Polytechnic.
The event, held under the theme “Digital Voices: Innovation, Creativity and Youth Engagement,” showcased the growing impact of digital media in promoting innovation, responsible communication, and youth participation in national development.
A major highlight of the celebration was the unveiling of PLABOMA’s Unified Bloggers Website, a first-of-its-kind digital platform designed to connect more than 30 active bloggers across Plateau State.
The initiative is expected to strengthen collaboration among members, enhance content visibility, and further promote credible digital journalism within and beyond the state.
PLABOMA also honoured distinguished individuals and stakeholders who have effectively leveraged social media to foster public engagement, encourage innovation, and contribute to societal development through responsible and impactful digital communication.
Participants engaged in insightful panel discussions, interactive networking sessions, and entertainment, creating opportunities for knowledge sharing and collaboration among media practitioners and aspiring journalists.
The successful celebration reaffirmed PLABOMA’s commitment to empowering digital content creators, promoting ethical online journalism, and building a stronger, more vibrant digital media community in Plateau State.
