Peter Ameh Resigns as DG of OK Movement
The Director-General of the OK Movement, High Chief Peter Ameh, has resigned from his position to concentrate on his ambition to represent Kogi East Senatorial District in the 2027 elections.
Ameh announced his resignation with immediate effect in a letter made public on Tuesday in Abuja. He explained that stepping down would allow him to dedicate the necessary time and energy to his senatorial campaign under the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
According to him, the decision does not in any way affect his loyalty to the NDC presidential candidate, Peter Obi, whom he described as his leader.
“I hereby formally tender my resignation as Director-General of the OK Movement, effective immediately.
This decision will enable me to devote the necessary time and energy to my campaign for the Kogi East Senatorial District,” he stated.
Ameh also expressed gratitude to Obi for his leadership and support, noting that the ideals of the movement remain intact.
“I humbly accept any individual appointed by my leader to succeed me in this role. I remain firmly committed to the ideals that united us and wish the OK Movement every success in its future endeavours,” he added.
His resignation comes amid ongoing discussions about the future leadership of the movement as political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections continue to gather momentum.
However, several political observers and supporters have dismissed suggestions that the resignation signals a crisis within the OK Movement, arguing that Ameh’s decision is a normal political step for a candidate seeking elective office while maintaining his support for the movement and its objectives.
