The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has rejected the declaration of Governor Ademola Adeleke as winner of the 2026 governorship election, insisting that the party is still reviewing the election records and believes the outcome does not reflect the true verdict of the electorate.

Speaking on behalf of the party, the Director-General of the APC Governorship Campaign Committee, Oluwole Oke, said the APC would not be pressured into congratulating Governor Adeleke merely because the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared him winner.

According to Oke, the party’s preliminary assessment suggests that Adeleke may not have secured the highest number of valid votes cast in the election.

He disclosed that the APC is carefully studying the election results and relevant documents before announcing its next line of action.

The position of the Osun APC comes despite President Bola Tinubu’s congratulatory message to Governor Adeleke following his re-election

While the President urged all stakeholders to uphold democratic values and maintain peace, the APC appears determined to challenge aspects of the election outcome.

Political observers say the development could set the stage for a major post-election legal battle in Osun State as the ruling party weighs its options.

The APC has promised to make its findings public in the coming days and outline the measures it intends to take regarding the disputed election results.

This report is based on the public statement attributed to APC Campaign Director-General Oluwole Oke.
