A viral video posted by @ChuksEricE on X(Twitter) allegedly from the ongoing All Progressives Congress (APC) direct primary election in Abia State has triggered widespread reactions online after a polling officer was captured counting votes in a bizarre and irregular sequence.

According to a trending thread on  the official was heard counting:
“51, 52, 53, 54, 55, 100, 200, 400, 500, 600, 800, 801, 900, 1000, 1250.”

The unusual counting pattern immediately drew criticism and mockery from Nigerians on social media, with many questioning the credibility and transparency of the APC direct primary process.

Several commenters described the exercise as a “rehearsal for 2027,” while others claimed the incident reflects deeper concerns about Nigeria’s electoral system.

One user wrote:

“Armed robbers dey learn for APC hand…”

Another commenter alleged that similar irregularities could surface during future general elections if reforms are not implemented.

Some participants, however, defended the process or suggested the polling officer may have been joking after a winner had already emerged.

The controversy also reignited debates around Nigeria’s historic June 12, 1993 election, which many Nigerians still regard as the country’s freest and fairest poll.

As of the time of filing this report, the APC leadership in Abia State has not officially responded to the viral video or the allegations surrounding the counting process.
