Benue: LG boss hails security agencies after rescue of Kidnapped victims

The Chairman of Makurdi Local Government Area, Joseph Keffi, has lauded the prompt intervention of security operatives that led to the successful rescue of residents kidnapped in two separate incidents within the council.

Those freed include Mr Saaondo, Mr Terfa and Mrs Msuurshima, who were abducted on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at Atôô village.

Another three victims Mrs Hembadoon Akiki, Mr Terzungwe Iortyom and Mrs Kadoon Iortyom were taken on Friday, January 9, 2026, in Adem, Bar Council Ward.

All six victims were later rescued unharmed after a joint operation carried out by security agencies.

In a statement issued through his Special Adviser on Security and Political Matters, Beetseh Terhide Mark, the council boss commended the synergy among the Nigeria Police, the Department of State Services, the Civilian Joint Task Force and community leaders, noting that their combined efforts also resulted in the arrest of two suspects, identified as Ushahemba M. and Victor A.

Keffi cautioned youths in the area to desist from engaging in criminal acts, especially kidnapping, and called on residents to stay alert and promptly report any suspicious activities to law enforcement agencies.
