Senior Pastor of Dunamis Church, Dr. Paul Enenche, has sparked widespread reactions across Nigeria after delivering a fiery and emotionally charged message widely interpreted as a warning to political leaders ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a viral sermon currently making rounds online, the founder of Dunamis International Gospel Centre condemned election rigging, political violence, voter inducement, and what he described as the desperate imposition of unpopular leaders on the people.

Without mentioning any specific politician by name, many Nigerians on social media believe the sermon was directed at President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other political actors accused of plotting to manipulate future elections.

In the now-viral statement, Enenche said:

“People say they don’t want you, yet you spend money to impose yourself on them. Is that not a shame? You should lead because they want you, they need you, and people are happy with you.

“They say they don’t want you and you’re trying to bribe people to compromise elections. Is that not a shame? That you are rejected and you are imposing yourself on them? Don’t rig to lead. Don’t kill to come into power.

“Let them need you. It’s the people you are leading that should determine whether they want you. And as I speak now, nobody should keep quiet anymore. Whether you are a pastor or anything you are, speak out. Don’t be a coward.

“Silence most times is consent. If you are silent about evil, it means you are in agreement with it. So you must not agree to be silent anymore.

“The same set of people who ruled, misruled, and destroyed the land are presenting themselves for leadership. It will never happen under God’s watch. Something must give way, and it is evil that will give way.”

The sermon has since ignited heated debate online, with supporters praising the cleric for boldly speaking truth to power, while critics argue that religious leaders should avoid politically sensitive statements.

The message comes amid increasing political tension and speculation over early alignments, coalition talks, and strategic moves ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

Observers say Enenche’s comments reflect the frustration of many Nigerians battling economic hardship, insecurity, and growing distrust in the electoral system.

As reactions continue to pour in, many are asking whether this marks the beginning of stronger political involvement by influential religious leaders as the 2027 elections draw closer.

For now, the sermon has once again placed Dr. Paul Enenche at the center of national political discourse.

What do you think? Should pastors openly speak on politics, or should they stay away from political matters?
