The Nigerian government is set to fully digitalize its civil service system by the end of 2025, a major reform aimed at creating a paperless governance system across all ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs).
This initiative is a key part of the “Renewed Hope” agenda, prioritizing the modernization of the civil service to boost efficiency, strengthen data sovereignty, and align with global best practices in digital governance.
According to Dada Olusegun, the Special Assistant to President Tinubu on Social Media, this transition will be facilitated by the 1Gov Cloud platform, overseen by the Federal Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy.
The government’s goals with this project are multifaceted includinng a goal to eliminate bureaucratic bottlenecks that have long plagued public service.
“Cut costs associated with the printing, storage, and distribution of physical files. Enhance transparency and accountability in public service delivery.” Olusegun disclosed.
Olusegun also noted that while the administration has already begun to see benefits from its economic reforms, a significant focus remains on building a seamless digital governance ecosystem.
This foundation, he stated, will usher in a new era of governance and provide better services for all citizens.
