Ebonyi Man Confesses to Role in Brutal Ki!ling of Dr. Chike Akunyili, Names Gang Leader
A young man identified simply as Small, an indigene of Ebonyi State, has reportedly confessed to being part of the criminal gang responsible for the gru€some mu*der of Dr. Chike Akunyili, husband of the late Prof. Dora Akunyili, former Director-General of NAFDAC and Nigeria’s Minister of Information.
The suspect, who was apprehended by operatives of the Anambra Vigilante Group (AVG) Agunechemba, made shocking revelations during interrogation. He admitted that the de@dly attack was coordinated and led by another Ebonyi native identified as Jukwese.
According to his confession, the ass@ilants first ambushed and ki!led Dr. Akunyili’s police escorts before turning their weapons on the medical doctor, leaving him lifel€ss at the scene. The revelation has shed new light on one of the most tr@gic ass@ssinations in Anambra State in recent years.
Security sources disclosed that the same gang has been behind a series of viol€nt crimes, kidn@ppings, and targeted kil!ings that have t€rrorized communities across Anambra. For months, their activities instilled fear among residents and disrupted business and social life in several parts of the state.
However, recent joint security operations have started to yield results. Operatives of Operation Udo Gachi, working closely with local vigilante units, have intensified raids on known crimin@l hideouts. Several members of the gang have been either arrested or neutralized in the ongoing crackdown.
Authorities have commended the vigilance and cooperation of local communities, noting that improved intelligence-sharing between residents and security operatives has been key to the recent breakthroughs.
As investigations continue, security agencies have vowed to bring all those connected to Dr. Akunyili’s murd€r to justice, stressing that no criminal will be allowed to escape the long arm of the law in Anambra State
