The Ekiti State Police Command has arrested eight suspects in connection with a violent attack that left two men dead and three others abducted in Odo Ayedun-Ekiti. The arrests also uncovered unlawful possession of firearms and stolen property linked to the crime.
The suspects, identified as Sule Dairu (25), Ali Bello (25), Mohammodu Hammed (21), Ali Salihu Medoki (25), Ori Gambo, also known as Gambo Alhaji (20), Shaibu Umaru, also known as Gahi (45), Ibrahim Abdullahi, also known as Rusku (27), and Suberu Lawal (40), were paraded by police authorities after confessing their involvement in the killings and kidnappings.
Investigations revealed that the gang stormed Isah Camp in Odo Ayedun-Ekiti at around 10 p.m. on 7 May 2025. They shot Mohammodu Ibrahim dead on the spot before abducting four victims. Despite receiving ransom, the gang killed one of the captives, identified as Ibrahim Baba, and later freed the remaining victims – Alhaji Jubril Abu, Awa Jubril, and Iliasu Guda.
The police disclosed that items recovered from the suspects included a Tecno mobile phone, shirts, trousers, and slippers belonging to the victims. Each suspect reportedly detailed their role in the attack during interrogation.
Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, CP Joseph Eribo, confirmed that the suspects had been charged to court and subsequently remanded in the Correctional Service Centre.
In a statement, CP Eribo reaffirmed the Command’s firm stance against violent crimes and appealed to residents to stay alert, cooperate with security operatives, and report suspicious activities to help safeguard communities.
