UBA Foundation extends lifeline to vulnerable groups in Lagos with food relief drive

United Bank for Africa’s CSR arm, UBA Foundation, has deepened its support for underserved communities by delivering food and relief items to vulnerable groups across Lagos through its latest charity outreach programme.
Representatives of the Foundation visited So-Said Charity Homes Community and SOS Children’s Village, where elderly residents, children, and others in need received a variety of staple food items including bags of rice, beans, and other essential supplies. The initiative forms part of UBA Foundation’s wider commitment to improving livelihoods and strengthening social support systems across Africa.
Speaking during the outreach, UBA’s Group Head, Marketing and Corporate Communications, Alero Ladipo, restated the Foundation’s ongoing dedication to social development, particularly for those most at risk of exclusion.
“At UBA Foundation, we believe in touching lives and giving back to the communities where we operate,” Ladipo remarked. “The elderly and children are some of the most vulnerable members of society, and it is our duty to stand by them. This outreach reflects our ongoing commitment to social responsibility and sustainable community support.”
Mrs Felicia Martins, CEO of So-Said Charity Homes Community, expressed heartfelt appreciation on behalf of her organisation. According to her, the Foundation’s intervention arrived at a crucial time for many under her care.
“We are deeply thankful to UBA Foundation for remembering us and putting smiles on the faces of our residents. These donations will go a long way in providing much-needed relief, especially in these challenging times,” she said.
Echoing this sentiment, Programme Director of SOS Children’s Village, Ayodeji Adelopo, praised UBA Foundation’s consistent engagement with causes that support orphaned and vulnerable children. He also expressed interest in deeper collaborations to further support welfare initiatives.
“UBA Foundation has consistently demonstrated concern for the wellbeing of children. This donation will ensure that those under our care continue to access nutritious meals and other essentials. We truly appreciate this act of generosity,” Adelopo stated.
Smiles and cheers greeted the Foundation’s team during the visit, as beneficiaries, including both young children and elderly individuals, received their packages with gratitude and joy.
UBA Foundation’s Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Bola Atta, reaffirmed the organisation’s focus on making meaningful social contributions across the continent.
“We remain steadfast in our mission to uplift communities through education, empowerment, environmental initiatives and targeted outreach programmes. These engagements are at the heart of our efforts to foster positive change,” she said.
The Foundation has established a broad footprint of philanthropic activities across Africa, ranging from educational scholarships and literacy programmes to healthcare interventions and poverty alleviation efforts.
As the Corporate Social Responsibility platform of the UBA Group, UBA Foundation centres its work on four key areas: Education, Environment, Economic Empowerment, and Special Projects, all geared towards the socio-economic advancement of communities within the bank’s operational landscape.
