Peter Obi has challenged those questioning his record as Anambra State governor to make his handover documents available to the public, as he responded to the controversy over loans and other issues surrounding his administration.
The 2027 presidential candidate made the remarks during an interview on Prime Time with Charles Aniagolu on Arise TV on Thursday evening, monitored by Headlineswave.ng between 8pm and 9pm.
During the interview, Obi was asked to respond to the loan controversy, which has recently featured prominently in political discussions in Anambra, including comments by Governor Charles Soludo.
Obi maintained that he did not take the loans being attributed to his administration and challenged those making such claims to produce the relevant records.

He also pointed to his handover note, making it clear that the document contains details that can be examined by the public.
He urged that the records be made available rather than allowing the issue to be driven by political claims and counterclaims.
Obi appeals for restraint in 2027 campaign
Speaking about the emerging political atmosphere ahead of the 2027 elections, Obi appealed to politicians to campaign with restraint and avoid desperation.

He expressed concern about the level of attacks directed at him, saying he fears for his safety given the intensity of the political environment.
Obi also questioned restrictions placed on his campaign activities in some states.
He recalled that when he was governor of Anambra State, other politicians were allowed to come into the state and campaign, suggesting that political competition should not prevent opponents from exercising their democratic rights.
“Election riggers will face the law”
On the 2027 election, Obi said that if elected president, those involved in election rigging would be dealt with according to the law.
He also stated that his administration would not favour any political party, stressing that government should operate fairly and independently of partisan interests.
