2027: ‘Remember Abacha’ – Dino Melaye Sends Strong Message to Tinubu, Says ‘God Has the Final Say’
Former Kogi West Senator and chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dino Melaye, has issued a strong warning to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election, urging him not to place absolute confidence in political endorsements or power.
In a post shared on his verified X account on Wednesday, Melaye recalled the political events leading up to the death of former military Head of State, General Sani Abacha.
He noted that despite enjoying the endorsement of all five registered political parties at the time and appearing set to transform into a civilian president without opposition, Abacha died before the transition could take place.
According to Melaye, the episode demonstrates what he described as the “God factor” in the affairs of men, insisting that no political ambition is beyond divine control.
“There is a God factor in the affairs of men. Tinubu does not understand this. Abacha was endorsed by all the five political parties at that time. There was no contest; he was already cruising to become a civilian president. God picked His phone and called Abacha. When God calls you, there is no network failure. That God has not gone on omugo. Tinubu, watch it,” Melaye wrote.
The former senator’s remarks come amid growing political realignments and increasing debate over the 2027 presidential election, as opposition parties intensify efforts to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Melaye’s comments have already sparked mixed reactions on social media, with supporters viewing them as a reminder that political power is temporary, while critics argue that the statement is a political attack on the President.
