ADC Primary. Former Rivers State governor and presidential aspirant of the African Democratic Congress, Rotimi Amaechi, has disclosed that he would challenge the outcome of the party’s presidential primary if the process is not conducted in a free and fair manner.
Amaechi made the statement after casting his vote during the ongoing ADC presidential primary in Ubima, Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Speaking with journalists shortly after voting, the former minister said the exercise in his ward was peaceful and transparent, expressing hope that the same standard would be maintained across the country.
According to him, there was a massive turnout of party members, with celebrations and dancing before the commencement of voting.
“It was a huge number of turnout. First, there was celebration and dancing, then we got the INEC people involved and I did cast my vote and left the place,” he said.
Amaechi added that he had been monitoring the exercise nationwide and would only accept the final outcome if the process remains transparent.
“I was monitoring the country state-by-state where I was. I hope the system would be transparent as it was in my village. If it’s transparent, I would accept the result, but if it’s not free and fair, a lot of us would react,” he stated.
The former Rivers governor also said he would support any candidate who emerges victorious, provided the election process is credible.
“The answer is yes. If the other person wins, I will work with him, but if the process is not free and fair, I would question it,” Amaechi addedFormer Rivers State governor and presidential aspirant of the African Democratic Congress, Rotimi Amaechi, has disclosed that he would challenge the outcome of the party’s presidential primary if the process is not conducted in a free and fair manner.
